Wagner Contemporary is thrilled to present new works by Queensland-based emerging artist Llewellyn Skye. Working predominantly in abstraction with oil paint but also using acrylic, oil stick and sprays, Skye’s work reflects a curiosity with paint; it’s tactile nature and expressive form, along with the cohesive range of colours and textures that manifest beneath her brush. The artist’s large-scale paintings are intuitive and gestural. Inspired by flowers and native plants, Skye’s paintings exude energy, vibrance and a cool aesthetic.
