We are delighted to announce that Kerry McInnis is a finalist in this year’s prestigious Archibald Prize, for her portrayal of Lao-Australian painter and installation artist, Savanhdary Vongpoothorn.
‘I have long admired the integrity and execution of Savanhdary’s oeuvre, appreciating the complexity of the intercultural connections it illuminates’, says McInnis, two-time Archibald finalist; ‘I decided to make her central to the composition, holding a favourite textile, with a reference to her work genre in the background’.
