Michael Gromm
Michael Gromm holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of Ballarat. His work slips between raw gestural marks to tightly cropped rendered forms, often through layers of fluid paint pours, creating more questions than giving answers. Gromm has exhibited extensively both locally and nationally in solo and group exhibitions and has several years living and working in both Indonesia and regional Victoria before settling in Melbourne. He has been selected as a finalist in several national art prizes, including the Geelong Contemporary Art Prize (2016, 2008), the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award (2015) and the Metro Art Prize (2010). In 2015, he was the recipient of the ‘Exploration 15, Emerging Artist Award’, awarded by Flinders Lane Gallery, Melbourne.
