Mike Worrall’s recent body of work, In and Out of Time, presents a thorough showcase of the core themes of the artist’s whimsical conceptual practice. Highly stylised in nature, Worrall’s paintings possess a unique puzzle-like quality – viewers are invited into the artist’s dreamscapes, where the subconscious is granted freedom to construct meaning and narrative based on the fragments of reality offered by the artist. Described by some as a ‘Romantic Surrealist’, Worrall playfully subverts scenes of mundanity with fantastical, uncanny imagery. His compelling world-building allows viewers to immerse themselves within these dystopian landscapes, facilitating engagement with life’s conundrums.
