FROM AN ENDLESS FOREST:
NEIL TAYLOR
08/07/2023 - 26/07/2023
Neil Taylor creates intimate, idealised landscapes of the Australian bush often focusing on exquisite features and unique forms of nature and their relationship with light. This new series of paintings concentrates on areas of wilderness the artist has recently visited and camped in isolation, sometimes for extended periods, at Hill End, along the Turon River, and in the Blue Mountains, NSW, where he is based. Time seems to stand still within each of the artist’s utopic creations. The quiet solitude of the remote bush – its beauty and perfection – has this effect and, while viewing Taylor’s work, one similarly feels a sense of timelessness, wonder, and awe.
Wagner Contemporary is thrilled to present, From an Endless Forest, by award winning and celebrated landscape artist, Neil Taylor.
The artist’s work has been selected for numerous major art awards, including the Archibald Prize, Wynne Prize, Sulman Prize, Tattersall’s Club Landscape Prize, NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize and Calleen Art Award. Taylor is a past winner of the Mount Eyre and Gosford Art Prizes and a recipient of the Mosman Art Prize Viewer’s Choice Award. His work is held in private collections throughout Australia and overseas.
