Celia Perceval paints a sense of the  Australian landscape bursting into life and, at times, her paintings seem almost overwhelmed by the intensity of their subject matter. Yet these works are less about the precise subject, the depiction of bush and birds and untouched country, and more about the artist’s love of paint. With a preference for painting plein air, Perceval’s work is always a direct response to her surrounds. “While my work is expressionistic and you can make out the narrative, I paint in abstraction, it flows through me. This is a conscious process despite its seemingly meditative approach”, states Perceval.
