Congratulations to Mark Hislop. The artist’s striking work: ‘it is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism’ is one of 34 paintings shortlisted for The Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize. The prize, which is held every two years at Bendigo Art Gallery, selects works that are dynamic, diverse and representative of contemporary practice today. The event has special significance for its founder, Allen Guy CBE (1917-2007), who initiated the prize to honour the life of his brother, Arthur Guy (1914-1945), who died during military service in New Guinea. The finalists’ show will be held from 20 November 2021 to 13 February 2022 with the winning piece permanently joining the gallery’s collection. For further details, please click here
